Briana lost 22kg/48 pounds by working with a nutritionist and working out six days a week. Her goal is to be the best version of herself that she can be. While studying to be a doctor, she saw the consequences of obesity on a daily basis and decided to make a change.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came from the fact that I needed to see how I would look and feel in a smaller frame. I had never experienced that. My weight had always been cumulative. I didn’t want to die early or look older than my husband when I got married. I didn’t want to have kids but not be able to raise them. I really want to be the best version of myself I can possibly be.
Also, I am trying to be a doctor. I never wanted to be an obese doctor, giving my patients advice while I’m not taking that same advice. They would probably never even listen to me in that case. I’m fully aware of the consequences of obesity. I was reminded of the consequences every day and everywhere as I studied and saw patients. It just isn’t the way I want to live. I wanted to give up many times and, you know, “accept me as I am,” but it just didn’t sit well with me.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by working with a nutritionist. I was so over diets.
What is your workout routine?
I do cardio (specifically HIIT cardio) and strength training. I work out six days a week.
How much weight did you lose?
I lost 22kgs. That’s about 48 pounds. Clothes that didn’t fit me in the past can fit me now.
What is your height?
When did you start your journey?
I can’t even remember. Actually, I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t trying to lose weight. (Even before or around high school.)
However, I accomplished my transformation last year during the quarantine. I was like, “If I don’t do it now, I probably will never.” I simply couldn’t afford to gain any more weight. I felt like I could probably just lay down and die. Literally!
How long did your transformation take?
It took me seven months, and I’m still going.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, no history of weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Discipline over motivation.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Weight loss is not beyond your reach, Nah. If you want it bad enough, you’ll work for it hard enough, and you’ll get it. It takes time, so be patient, and take it one step at a time.
Is there anything else you’d like to say to others who wants to lose weight like you?
