Chrischeryl lost 25 pounds and recently turned 54 years old. After her friend posted her success with a weight loss coach, she decided to try his program. She worked out 5-6 days a week and used meal prepping and portion control to transform her eating habits.
I recently turned 54 years old and didn’t want to start my next year in the same place. I had a desire and a goal but no plan. I felt like I was destined to fail.
I saw a friend post about her success with Terry Starks and decided to give his program a try. At the start of this program, I weighed 189 pounds at 4’11,” and I was wearing a snug 14 dress. I’ve been on the plan for seven weeks, and I have lost 26 pounds and gone down three dress sizes.
My friends have noticed the weight loss. My husband has definitely noticed. I can attribute my success to the plan made especially for me by Terry. Working with him has been inspiring, motivating, and rewarding. I have never felt deprived or hungry. I was able to eat real food. No crazy workouts and I still get the results. While this plan was for seven weeks, I see this as my new way of life. I can’t wait to see what the next seven weeks hold.
How did you change your eating habits?
As part of this process (and I say process because that is what it is for me…more than a program), I have cut out fried foods, fast food, and the majority of processed foods. I have also reduced my dairy consumption to almost nill. I replaced dairy with almond milk or soy creamer in my daily coffee.
I also removed refined sugar from my diet. That remains a struggle when I have a craving for something sweet, but it can be managed. I also purchased a food scale and measuring cups. I now weigh and meal prep the majority of my meals. This keeps me from grabbing anything or guessing the amount of food I am eating. Our eyes don’t tell the truth, but the scale and cups will give me the correct amount.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I go to the gym at least 5-6 days a week and do a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio first thing in the morning. I have switched it up from the treadmill to the elliptical. I also ride the bike if I am feeling lazy.
I have just added weights to my routine but only lightweight training and stretching. Sometimes I will go back in the afternoon for a 2nd walk, or I’ll walk at the mall, trails, or somewhere else for some fresh air.
What is your current weight?
164 pounds. I want to lose more but am not going to focus on the scale. I’ve lost clothing sizes, and that makes me happy.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey with Terry Starks in October 2020. Our process was for seven weeks/35 days. I began to notice a difference after about the 2nd week. My husband said something after the 3rd week.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that I can win on this journey. I can lose weight, not feel deprived, remain full, and share my success with my family and friends.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Just start and don’t look so far ahead. Take each day one at a time. If you slip, adjust and start again. WE don’t have to be our parents. We can control our destiny.
If other people in your house don’t want to join you, don’t let them deter you from your mission. They can eat what you cook or cook for themselves (that is what happens here).
The weight loss game is more about what you eat than how hard you work out. Yes, that has helped, but working out alone and eating what I wanted was not working. Food being a forethought rather than an afterthought has made the difference for me.
Is there anything else you’d like to say to others who wants to lose weight like you?
