Transformation of the Day: Clotia lost 56 pounds with healthy eating habits and exercise. Part of her motivation came from realizing that she could face the same health issues that contributed to her father’s passing if she didn’t change her lifestyle.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came after losing my father, who was only 62 years old. While going through that, during the summer of 2019, I recognized that the health issues he suffered from could become my issues if I did not take the necessary steps to make changes.
In October 2019, I did not feel well one day at work. The next day, I went to the doctor. I weighed 282 pounds, and my blood pressure was very high.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What inspired me to lose weight was looking at old photos from years prior when I was much thinner. I also e to be here for my family. I knew I had to make a change to do that.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started by limiting carbs like bread, pasta, and rice. Then I did my own research and figured out what foods my body needed based on my current health issues. I was able to find a way to substitute certain foods during this process.
What did your workout routine consist of?
How often did you work out? In the beginning, I did not work out. Instead, I just focused on my eating habits. Then, I started to walk at least three days a week. Recently, I started doing yoga, and I’ve gone back to the gym at the YMCA for some cardio classes.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight back in Feb 2020 was 275 pounds. My current weight is 219 pounds and counting.
What is your height?
My height is 5’4″.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey back in Feb 2020.
How long did your transformation take?
It took 11 months, and I am still trying to lose more weight.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned so far?
My biggest lesson is that weight loss is mental, and you have to focus on getting that right. You may make mistakes but keep going. It is a journey, not a race.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Understand your WHY and focus on that even when you do not want to exercise or eat right. Even when the scale does not move, know that you are doing your very best every single day. The progress will show in time.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery. Just natural.
