What was your motivation?
I grew up very thin. Then, I gained weight in my late teens after getting Norplant birth control in my arm. It screwed me up. I ended up yo-yo dieting for 20 YEARS!! 2020 marks 20 years since my first diet!
Health prompted my change. I was dealing with Hypertension, Asthma, Pre-diabetes, and Acid Reflux. I was also a smoker, but I have quit.
I was in classes for people who are considering the Lap-Band, but I saw how much discipline it took AFTER surgery, so it was a hard pass for me!
How did you change your eating habits?
This time I didn’t diet. I watched Netflix’s “What The Health” documentary and IT CHANGED MY LIFE! Weight loss was a byproduct of that change. I became a vegan for a hot second, Lol. I am currently Pescatarian 90% of the time and Flexitarian 10% of the time.
What is your workout routine?
I work out 4-6 days a week. My workouts include cardio, hiking, walking, jogging, dance videos on Youtube, and twerk class. I also have a boxing coach.

My starting weight was 252 pounds, and my current weight is 194 pounds.
I am smaller than I have been since 2000. I could not be more proud of myself. I am currently training to be a fitness instructor. Yaayyy!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that no matter what “diet” or “plan” I choose, creating a better lifestyle is totally up to me. I am the author of my health, basically.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I want people to know that one salad won’t make you skinny, just like one burger won’t make you fat. Learn to balance it all out. Use those “comfort” foods in moderation.
However, if they find themselves eating an entire box of cereal in one day, as I sometimes do, don’t beat yourself up. Just buckle down and get back on track. The first step is always the most difficult. It gets easier along the way.
Is there anything else you’d like to say to others who wants to lose weight like you?
